This is an HDR image which consists of 3 of the exact same pictures merged into one final image. One image is over exposed, one medium and one under.
Depth of field and focus
In this is image the subject is very clear and in focus. Since there is really only one main subject there is no need for blurring any part of the image. I think the DOP is pretty good in this image. I really wouldn't change anything if I had the chance to do it again. At least not this particular element.
Exposure
This picture has a fairly light exposure. However When I took this image I initially took 3 images of the same subject with 3 different exposures. Once they were all out together I edited the image and played around with the exposure and contrast. I made it a little bit lighter then it originally was. So in general i am leases with the exposure considering the fact that u created it to be exactly what I wanted.
Lighting
This image was taken indoors. However it was taken near a window where natural sunlight filtered in. The placement of the wine stand was set where the lighting hit from the side. So the lighting was a combination of natural lighting and side lighting. I rally like how the sunlight hits the wine stand and causes the pretty highlights and shadows.
Lines
This particular image has many different lines throughout it. The way the stand crosses creates many different sets of lines. It almost makes a checked type of pattern. The incorperated lines in this image I really like. I think that they add a lot of visual interest to the image and make it look better.
Color
This image consists of two main colors, black and the red like color of the wood. The color scheme is very simple and not over the top. I really enjoy how there are two different types of wood with two similar but slightly different colors. I think they compliment each other without competing. I also like how the dark bottles pop against the back.
Compositon
I like the composition of this image. I like the way the two bottles look surrounded by the the stand. I think the detail of the stand looks really good because the rest of the picture is fairly simple. The rule of thirds was not totally applied here but the nice angel makes up for it, Although the image is pretty centered I think it looks good and I would change it.

Depth of Field and focus:
ReplyDeleteIn this picture it looks to me like there is a deep depth of field. I this this takes a little away from the picture because instead of directing your attention to that bottles it distracts me slightly outward. The focus is on the bottle with the gold top. This is the right place for it to be focused because its right in the center and its the biggest object and the most colorful.
Exposure:
The exposure on the image is great. It helps that the picture is composed of three separate images. If i looked at the picture and didn’t know the picture was an HDR i would have thought wow that has great exposure. Maybe some of the reason that the depth of field is so deep was because it was sunny. You could have changed this by opening the aperture a bit more and slowing down the shutter a little also.
Lighting:
The lighting appears to be coming from the upper right corner, so slightly above and to the right. i think this does a lot for the picture. One thing it does is it gives many shadows on the gold tin foil on the bottle is a great example of this. Another thing that is benefitted by this is that the image drags your eye across the page because in the corner it is bright but then slowly gets darker as you get to the bottom left corner.
Lines:
There are very good leading lines in this picture. The wooden rack is a great example of the lines. It also looks like you used the golden rule by starting at the bottle with the gold then following the wood all the way around. This element makes the picture much more visually appealing. I also think it helps that the two bottles are sticking out just about the same amount.
Colors and values:
The colors in this picture are very bright. Although there is a slight orange color, I think that the HDR ma just become yellow/ orange because mine did too. This color scheme is realistic. I think that helps to add to the picture because many times pictures get edited so much they begin to look fake. I don’t think the colors are supposed to symbolize anything.
Composition:
I think this picture does a great job of using the whole space. There is not a boring area in the picture. I can definitely tell what the subject is without getting to distracted. I think the contrast between the lights more in the top right and the darks in the bottom left flow nicely together. Lastly i like the composition because there are so many shapes, the round bottle the rectangle holder, the diamond pieces of wood and many more.
